As Close Can Be

It's always my desire to reach out to people and touch them both literally and with words that can bind us, make us better understand each other, make us as close as two orbiting planets can be.

           As Close Can Be

           To bring us close,
          as close as can be,
         I would have you be
           part of my poetry.

             I will write a line
       and you‘ll recall a time-
       ”I was a fool then too!”
        If you would but stay
    for even a moment or two
         and we might replay
      a piece of golden youth
      or recall a startling truth.

     Here in this shared space
    we might gain such solace
      and in this brief moment
  banish sadness and torment.

       I would have this bond  
    last a lifetime and beyond,
   but will settle for this withal-
     this tiny cramped interval-
          which might suffice
               if you would
             but read it twice.
