Uninvited Things
I think this is my third rhino poem. He is such a subtle character. I'm publishing every two weeks, giving me more time to get my next book of poetry ready. It's close to done. Happy Valentine's Day
Uninvited Things
A rhino has rearranged
the furniture unconventionally.
I had never imagined the sofa
could fit there and
the kitchen table too.
Some dust has been revealed.
The sink is no proper place
for my grandmother’s fine china,
at least not while still in
the lovely, mahogany Victorian hutch,
which sat on the dust.
It is the kind of renovation
devoutly to be avoided,
entirely undesirable and yet,
thus far, unstoppable.
When will the handlers arrive?
Surely they must know he has gone
missing from his paddock
and not mistaken for a gnu?
He is an agent of change.
I did not want for any but
that is the nature
of uninvited things.

Oh your humor, Wes! That rhino brings out the best in you.
Happy Valentine's Day to you & Laurie! ❤️❤️
Love the clever humor Wes! Keep’m coming.
