Paul Cezanne painted a nearby scene, the Montagne Sainte-Victoire, over 30 times, so clearly, as a poet I should be allowed several tries to capture my ever changing Blue Hill.
Uploading files was easy. I tried to have my book formatted by someone on Fivrr, but when I then had to correct some "small" glitches, I had to start over and ended up redoing it myself.
I'm not very good at promoting my work; other than that, I have no complaints about functionality with KDP. I appreciate the fact that I can order author's copies at cost.
I'm not sure whether this answers any of your questions? Please feel free to ask more specifically!
I think what I'm trying to say is that everything--including the formatting, which I thought I couldn't possibly figure out by myself--turned out to be very doable after all.
Kindle Direct Publishing. It's basically Amazon's publishing platform for both books and ebooks. There's a lot of good information on using it... stuff you can find on YouTube, blogs, etc. I found it most useful to look up specific topics since otherwise I was getting information overload. ;-)
Nice! Loved how you wrote such a lovely poem about the process of creating. I'm a firm believer that every time we look at something (a piece of art, a tree, a mountain), we can see something different, because we are slightly different than the other times. We may have learned something new, are in a different mood, have lost or found someone, the weather is different. So, you certainly can write about that Blue Hill multiple times. Maybe as much to fill a book of poems that people who love that mountain can cherish.
Love this one. It’s so true, whether looking out our window, or at the face of my husband of 35 years… we see new beauty with every glance.
Aw, that is just so dang sweet. It is important to know when we are lucky.
Fantastic! And that small twist of terror at the end really caps it all off!
thank you Amy. I had my mother in mind as she saw something in the distance and was grabbing for her black wax pencil and a pad.
Can you tell me anything about your experience of publishing with Amazon?

Thank you for all that. What is KDP?

Great work, Weston!
thank you Arjan. We certainly change, the seasons change. That poem brought my Mom to mind, she was a lifetime artist, always trying new things.
"And yet again, there it is,
like a beast at rest
snoring as sonorous
as rumbling thunder,
shoulders twitching under
melting snow or, today,
haunches settling in
under a morning sun." ❤️
You gotta keep your eyes on these beasts. Here is another one from a year ago, it was my very first post on Substack. Let me know what you think of it. https://westonpparker.substack.com/p/this-is-the-image-that-inspired-the
Wonderfully evocative! Glad you're keeping an eye on that beast; s/he bears watching, clearly.
I am on the job.
A precious few moments or sights, so critical to our souls rest.
