Buoy To Bell
Don't read this if you dislike romantic poems. Yech. This is where we fell in love, at that lighthouse, under that moon, by that bell buoy, on that night. We rang church bells at the wedding too.
This is not a finished poem yet. It has problems, I know it, I can’t see them yet but I know they’re there.
Buoy To Bell Thereunder its spell from the moon above we sat below upon the sea's swell and fell in love. That beam laid a path quite simple to see, a shining column laid just for me. I remember your eyes and the ring of your laugh The buoy bell rung in the slightest breeze and we rung a bell with the greatest of ease. From buoy bell to wedding knell our marriage began from the loveliest of spires. The tolling goes on and the music inspires. L’Isle- 5/23 A mushy love poem to my gal, my wife.
I love the line 'The beam laid a path quite simple to see.' It felt like you trusted me as the reader. Can you describe the experience of falling in love without saying you fell in love? I start to feel it in your recollection of 'your eyes and the ring of your laugh.' The 'we' in this opening is strong too. It brings the reader into the shared experience.
