Aw, thanks for giving me a big smile Jonathan. In the late 70’s, I was studying at the LSE and was reading “The Pickwick Papers” on the tube. During one moment I howled out loud with laughter and “people in the train looked over.”
I always get a kick out of the fact that you so often notice the structure of a poem which, for me, is pretty much how these things develop, along a line of structure and then all the color and tinsel gets added, pretty much like building something. thanks Stan
You capture this moment for all the senses; I can see and hear the one pigeon standing out among the others, all of them around you, the light at just the right angle, you in the middle. But most of all I can FEEL these few, now immortalized, minutes.
From our solarium window the birds gather for a feast. Bluebirds, red cardinals, red winged blackbirds, cat birds, tufted tit mice, humming birds. We even had a magnificent pileated woodpecker. None of these inspire me as your common pigeon does you. Thanks once again for your words and voice.
You give so much to what too many give an indifferent look.. this is the power of what words (and day old bread) can do when your eyes and heart and breath combine…
It's been a wonderful bunch of months traveling about. We have three more weeks here in this little town and then home to Colorado. We spend the month of June packing up the house and move out on July 1st.
I'll always be amazed how you can take an ordinary moment & make it timeless.
Me too
Thank you Mrs. Parker, that's a very kind thing to say. 😘

That made me laugh. People in the train looked over. The power of poetry :)

Eloquently constructed!

I’ve always thought you build a poem like a carpenter builds a house.
I remember we talked about this well over a year ago and I always appreciated your sharp eye.
Thanks!
The wry spirit of your poetry makes it special. This is such a good example--thank you for reading it.
beautiful!
Thanks Andrea

How wonderful to have a poem so well received, appreciated and understood! Thank you so much Jessica.
Beautiful.
thanks Margaret

thank you Jack. I miss all the variety of the east coast. Here in France it's all pigeons, sparrows and crows with a seagull showing up now and then.

Thank you Patris. I have been slowing down as much as possible to see what goes on everywhere. It's been great fun.
That must be wonderful- and heart-expanding! Your gentle tone these days seems to speak from a peaceful soul. I’m glad xx

Hi Deborah, it's very easy to see heaven in something as beautiful as a bird.
