Although I have zero apetite I can still imagine a meal coming my way. I saw this being delivered earlier and both parties did indeed clasp their hands to their breast as if this were a miracle.
I was sitting nearby, wondering how when my apetite would return. Laurie and woke at about midnight and had a cup of soup, first food in four days. I believe we are on the mend. But what a profound exhaustion we've both had. That's life.
Its so discouraging to be ill when you travel (I once spent an entire week with a high fever on a visit to my dad in Greece one year) but as discouraging as it is it’s so important to focus on resting as you gain strength. Laurie feeling well enough to eat is such a great sign! I'm assuming you may not want trout but you ate something as well?
As my own Yiayia emphasized:
“Rest and food!” (My dad emphasized “Tea with good brandy, lemon and honey!” ) feel better!, dears.
Let me know how it’s going? Was wondering if you had seen a doctor in fact.
I’ll bug you no further but please post updates? Best to Laurie, patris
Thanks Patris for your concerns. We are slowly crawling out of it but I remember when we both had Covid 18 months ago. We would wake up and feel almost normal but by late morning we crashed. This may be the same. Ah well. I'll have to walk very slowly to the bakery for our morning croissant. Could be a lot worse.
How many days of eating oven warm croissants pass when a person finally says, "I'm sick of these things. If I have to eat another warm, crunchy, perfectly cooked croissant with butter melting inside I'm gonna vomit on this tiny table!" said not one f***ing person. Ever
We both got the flu and were in bed for almost a week while in the lovely seaside town of Cassis in southern coast. We are better but my balance is still off, low energy and kinda stupid so Laurie says, "It's a little hard to tell on the stupid thing." Is that any way for a loving wife to speak of her idiot husband?
Shriveling mushrooms and unparalleled asparagus. Now why did you do that? My meal isn’t for a few hours.
Makes me hungry except for the fact I don’t like to be mocked by my main course! Great poem.
Smiling at image of you and the trout eyeballing one another, each with one eyebrow up.
Seriously so good, images are in motion, even on that plate.

You must know I’m stopping myself from giving you obvious advice.
Of course it could be worse, you are having croissants after all. Every day stronger, Wes.

😄 c’est vrai!
Fun! Are you feeling a bit ‘out of sorts?’ Sounds like jet lag to me. You’ll be better soon and your dinner may be more accepting of you Wes! 🤗

..."I am glad the asparagus
doesn’t run parallel to the trout,
a person can only take so much,
but I do like the shriveled mushrooms
since I have long been a fan
of all things shriveled...."
🤣So delicious, Wes. Live forever.
that's a fun image.
