I hope poetry remains an unknowable, groping process fraught with mystery. I cannot remember when I had more fun writing a poem. It was like being invited to an after party at Cirque Du Soleil.
I love how your poetry always paints a story! Your use of imagery keeps me engaged. This ending is superb!
“She would have to monitor the temperature, very carefully, the way a nurse does when falling in love with the patient. Is it ethical to check his temperature with a kiss? Will that encourage spontaneous combustion?”
Yep, that's pretty much it. I like to think of the wacky nurse at the end is how creative people make things that have never existed before and how incredibly alluring that is to us but sometimes threatening to others.
The beauty of the nurse you mean? The tender, unasked for affection making her shy with his visitors, unsure how to behave before his family, dreaming of him walking with strength, casually pausing before his unbroken legs stepped onto a street?

You make my day Somiah! Maybe, one day, you and I will do the music and lyrics to a piece of music that "paints a story".
Likewise! That would be wonderful!
Very good! The fragile elusiveness of the creative spark combined with the harsh judgement of the world is how I read it.

That nurse is such a curious character and I'm glad you noticed her peculiar ways.
